What architectural projects does Arch11 specialize in?

At Arch11, architecture is wildly specific; shaped by context, crafted with precision, and designed to evoke a sense of awe. From the foothills of Boulder to the urban fabric of Denver, across the Mountain West, the Carolinas, to the streets of New York City and throughout the country, our architectural firm’s work spans bespoke residential homes and visionary commercial spaces. Every project reflects a deep response to place, purpose, and the people it serves. From custom homes to restaurants, bespoke commercial headquarters, institutional work, and adaptive reuse, each project presents an opportunity to deliver design excellence.
How involved is the architect during the construction process?

At Arch11, design begins with the hand. The firm is led by architects who first came to the discipline as builders—craftspeople who learned the language of materials through direct experience. Like the Japanese shokunin, we believe that making is not only a skill but an ethic: a responsibility to understand, to refine, and to execute with integrity.
This lineage of craft shapes every aspect of our practice. Our architects remain deeply involved throughout all phases of a project—from early conceptual studies to the final moments of construction. We collaborate closely with consultants, oversee the execution of every detail, and advocate for the clarity and continuity of the design vision.
This sustained engagement ensures that our buildings are not only well-conceived but also well-made—each line, joint, and threshold reflecting the precision, care, and intention with which it was imagined.
What is your architecture firm's expertise?

At Arch11, we don’t specialize in building types—we specialize in firsts. We are a studio drawn to complex questions, ambitious ideas, and clients who value deep collaboration. Each project is an opportunity to explore, to listen, and to design something entirely new.
We’ve never defined ourselves by typology. Instead, we define ourselves by the rigor of our process and the integrity of our outcomes. What unites our work isn’t a building type, but a way of thinking: architecture as an act of discovery.
We do, however, excel at modern architecture, place-specific spaces that are deeply attuned to their landscapes, their inhabitants, and the climate in which they live. These are projects where our craft, care, and commitment to context come fully into focus.
Do you design sustainable or energy-efficient buildings?

Yes—stewardship is not just a value at Arch11; it is the foundation of our practice. As a signatory of the AIA 2030 Commitment, we hold ourselves to ambitious benchmarks for reducing carbon emissions across projects of all scales. But more than a metric, our approach to sustainability is rooted in design intelligence, material sensitivity, and a deep respect for place.
We begin with the land. Each site offers its own set of conditions—light, topography, climate, vegetation—and we respond with architecture that is attuned rather than imposed. We design to capture daylight, harness prevailing winds, and reduce energy loads by aligning built form with natural systems. Our residential projects, in particular, are oriented to invite warmth in winter and shade in summer—passively enhancing both performance and comfort.
Local materials and indigenous plantings become part of the architectural language, reinforcing a sense of continuity between the built and natural environments. Carefully positioned windows frame views, channel breezes, and invite the landscape in—making connection, efficiency, and beauty inseparable elements of the design.
